Gateway Pools
Multi-gateway payment routing that never lets a sale slip
Every transaction is routed to your highest-converting gateway in real time. If one declines or goes down, Funnelish instantly cascades to a backup — no manual switching, no abandoned carts, no lost revenue.
Features
Smart payment routing sends every card transaction to the gateway most likely to approve it — then retries on a backup the moment one fails.
Automatic gateway failover
Your backup gateway takes over the instant the primary declines or times out. Routing happens server-side in milliseconds — the customer never sees a retry.
Higher authorization rates
Routing rules give priority to your best-performing gateways per region and card type, so more transactions clear on the first attempt.
Eliminate downtime
If one gateway goes down, payments are automatically rerouted to another.
Optimize for local payment preferences
Select primary gateways for each region, fallback options, and let Funnelish carry the load—seamless, reliable, smart.
Set up smart payment routing in minutes
Connect Stripe, PayPal, Airwallex, or any gateway you already use, then drag them into the order you want. Funnelish handles the routing logic, retries, and failover from there — no code, no processor migration, no developer required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about smart payment routing and how Gateway Pools works inside Funnelish.
Gateway Pools is Funnelish's smart payment routing engine. It lets you configure multiple payment gateways for a single checkout flow, so if one declines or goes down, Funnelish automatically retries with the next - boosting your card authorization rates and reducing checkout disruptions.
You assign a prioritized list of gateways—say, Gateway A first, Gateway B as backup. When a customer submits a payment, Funnelish attempts the transaction with the primary gateway. If it fails (due to downtime, declines, etc.), it seamlessly shifts to the next available gateway until the payment is authorized or no gateways remain. This automatic fallback ensures more transactions succeed.
Yes — there’s a small additive fee of 0.5% per transaction when using Gateway Pools, on top of your regular gateway processing fees. This fee covers the added intelligence, reliability, and revenue protection that Gateway Pools delivers.
For now, Gateway Pools works exclusively with card payments (credit, debit, prepaid). That said, you can still offer and process other payment options - like PayPal, Klarna, or bank transfers - alongside a Gateway Pools-enabled flow. Funnelish continues to support those alongside the smart fallback system.
Absolutely! Gateway Pools is fully compatible with all Funnelish environments - funnels, stores, geo-funnels, or any combination thereof. Whether you're running localized pushes with Geo-Funnels or a global storefront, Gateway Pools integrates seamlessly to maximize payment reliability across the board.
Higher authorization rates: Different gateways excel in different regions or card types. Gateway Pools lets you tap into the best performance dynamically.
Built-in redundancy: No single point of failure—if one gateway falters, the next in line saves the sale.
Geographic flexibility: Combine with Geo-Funnels to route through gateways tailored to each region (e.g., local processors with higher success rates).
Improved customer experience: Fewer declines mean fewer frustrated customers and abandoned carts.
